DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE manager John Still is running the rule over former Aveley winger Joao Carlos.

Carlos, who has also played for Brentwood, has signed on non-contract terms at Victoria Road and was on the substitutes bench as Daggers crashed out of the FA Cup at Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

He scored in the Essex Senior Cup shoot-out win over Great Wakering Rovers, and has warranted further inspection by the Daggers coaching staff.

"Joao is a player who was at Aveley last year, but has been injured since then," said Still. "He's training with us now and we will have a good look at him. It was good experience being on the bench on Saturday and seeing it first hand.

"He's a tricky winger who likes to run at people and wants to beat them.

"He has done alright and we will keep looking at him over the next few weeks."
