Pupils from three schools were some of the 14,000 lucky enough to see Chipmunk, Tinchy Stryder and emerging girl group Parade live at the O2 last Wednesday as part of a school assembly with a difference.

Students from Eastbrook, Eastbury and Jo Richardson schools experienced the concert – but it was not just to give students an end of term boost.

Rock Assembly, now in its second year, was organised by charity The Transformation Trust to help young people improve their life skills as well.

MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis talked about student finance, while a university village was created to give teachers and students an opportunity to find out more about higher education.

Cemil Alkis, sixth form mentor at Eastbury School, said: “We have an enthusiastic student body in our sixth form really capable of achieving great things.”

Amy Leonard, chief executive of The Transformation Trust, added that the trust was “going from strength-to-strength” in helping 565 schools with access to extra-curricular activities that they otherwise could not afford to develop new skills and talents.
