Newham BC National Schools' title-chaser Sam Bezzina, moved through to the quarter-finals with a good points success over Slough opponent Johnny Scott.

Bezzina who was earlier a runner-up in the National competition, showed the form which could make him go one better this year as he dominated the action against the Slough boxer to take the verdict at Berringsfield near Oxford.

Another Newham boxer moving through to the quarter finals, Des Johnson, also impressed in the tournament, beating Oxford opponent Brian Townsend.

The third Newham boxer due for action, Aiden Pleydell, was forced to withdraw with flu.
