Two delighted parents welcomed their new arrival 27 days earlier than expected.
Kaj Miah and his wife Sultana Begum had an eventful start to 2016 when their daughter Mariyyah Fozal Miah was born at 11.36am on New Year’s Day.
Mariyyah, who weighed 4lb 9oz, is the first baby for the parents who live in Blake Avenue, Barking.
“I feel really excited, I think we are really blessed – and it was a Friday which is our special day as it is a prayer day,” Kaj said.
The couple said they were extremely grateful to midwives Yasmin, Paulina and Eva at Newham University Hospital who were “really good” during the birth.
Kaj said the family are now looking forward to introducing their new arrival to the rest of the family.
“We are all doing fine. Everyone is coming round next weekend,” he said.
