A 66-year-old man has narrowly avoided prison after he was caught performing a sex act in his garden.

Michael Walton, of Carey Road, Dagenham, pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent exposure last month and was given a 16-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon.

The court heard how Mr Walton exposed himself by walking naked through his back garden on July 7 this year, as well as performing a sex act in the garden on July 10 and 17.

He also admitted performing previous acts in his front doorway on dates throughout June.
