Barking and Dagenham Council is running a week of events to encourage multicultural and close communities,

Inter Faith Week will show the work done by local faith, inter faith and faith-based groups and organisations.

The week will begin on November 11, and will include open days at St Margaret’s Church and Al Madina Mosque, stories workshops at Becontree Children’s Centre and a chance to hear from speakers of various faiths at Barking Town Hall.

Councillor Saima Ashraf, deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for community leadership and engagement, said: “Barking and Dagenham is a wonderfully diverse borough, and it is fantastic to know that people will be sharing their beliefs and values with each other during this month’s Inter Faith Week.

“It is important that people take time out to find out more about each other’s faiths, so that we can truly be one borough and one community.”
