Teachers at Thames View Infants School in Barking were put to the task this morning as they sieved, stirred and iced their way through to a grand judging panel to help raise £400 for Comic Relief.

In just an hour, the three teams managed to bake mouth-watering creations including a chocolate surprise – stuffed full of Maltesers – in front of a crowd of hundreds of pupils and their parents.

Business manager Kerry Ager said the morning at Bastable Avenue went “really well”, with parents and pupils also donating cakes for a big sale.

“It’s a great opportunity to raise money for a fantastic charity and the kids loved it,” Kerry said.
