NEWHAM SWORDS struck gold yet again as they dominated the Brentwood National Junior Team event held at the weekend.

Following on from their success at the Bristol Premier tournament, they were among the medals once more.

Alan Lozovik, Kamal Minnott and Jai Birch took gold for Swords A in the under-13 team event, while the B side of Miles Parry, James Urdzal and Daniel Alzapiedi earned silver.

Newham's C team, comprising of Joao De Souza, Robbie Shaw and Florian Kabasubabo and Newham D, made up of Michael Koudou, Ruhi Singha and Hahib Adebajo, took bronze and fourth place respectively.

In the under-11 age group, the Swords team of Jesse Isiko, Nathan Dickison, Cameron Mutale and Rachel Shaw also picked up a silver medal for the club, who are coached by Linda Strachan, Pierre Harper and Barbara Koppenwallner.

"These are great results for these young and talented fencers, and good preparation for next month's London Youth Games, where we will be defending champions," said Strachan, who is also the club manager.
