A budding teenage choreographer is set to have his debut work premiered at the Barking Broadway.

Oliver Brown’s Synesthesia will be performed at the theatre later this month.

“It looks at humanity and its relationship with the body and our own individual relationships with our bodies,” the 18-year-old Barking and Dagenham College student said. “There are five dancers including myself and we are all quite different body types.

“I am very, very slim man and I think it’s important to show that there is that variety and that’s okay.”

Oliver already has plans to perform the piece during workshops in local primary schools to open up the wider subject of body image.

“It’s really exciting for me that my first work will be shown in Barking, where I grew up, and hopefully I will be able to take it out into the community,” he added.
