POLICE and youth workers have been hitting the streets to crack down on underage drinkers.

As part of Operation Alcopop, which has been running throughout the summer school holidays, police have been seizing alcohol from teenagers drinking in parks and on the street.

Last week some of the youth workers and police officers involved came together to show how much alcohol had been confiscated.

Licensing Officer, PC Corrine Holland, said: "The programme has been very effective in reducing underage drinking during the school holidays.

"As you can see we have seized a lot of alcohol from young people over the past few weeks."

The areas being targeted are Marks Gate, Martins Corner, parts of Rainham Road South, Thames View, Goresbrook Village and Parsloes Park.
