Police say that three robbers wrestled a security guard's cash box from him at the Shell Service Station, in Manor Road, Chigwell, at 10.30am on Saturday.

The box contained £11,000 in cash.

The guard, a Hornchurch man in his 50s, was transferring money at the busy station when he was targeted by the gang.

The thieves took the box and made off in a Ford Ka, which was spotted by police officers in Woolwich, south London that afternoon.

Shortly afterwards, a 15-year-old boy from Barking, was arrested and questioned on suspicion of robbery at an Essex police station.

He was bailed to return yesterday (Tuesday).

The cash box was also recovered containing the full £11,000.

Officers are searching for two other men involved.

They are described as black, in their late teens or early 20s, and between 5'8 and 5'10 in height.
