COMPETE TENNIS starlet Tiffany William produced a superb performance to reach the final of the under-18 AEGON Winter Grand Prix Masters event at Roehampton at the weekend.

The teenager, who has recently joined the centre in Redbridge and is still just 16 herself, saw off some tough opponents as she knocked out Amy Hoburn, Pippa Horn and Caitlin Hindmarsh to make the final, but eventually succumbed 6-1, 6-3 to Abbi Melrose.

Fellow Compete member Brielle Koulen came through qualifying for the event with wins over Emily Gibbens and Kyria Dunford, but despite losing to Lucy Matthewson in the final, she had earned a place in the main draw.

She went out 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to Taro Keens, but at just 14-years of age, it was an excellent effort from the youngster.

In the boys' event, Hainault's Marshall Tutu saw off Michael Nott in qualifying, only to lose to Sam Fleck.

He still progressed to the main draw, but was knocked out 6-0, 7-6 by Connor Glennon.

Jared Linzell won the Indoor Series event in Norfolk with a triumph over fellow Compete member Oliver Bickley.

The teenager had beaten Ryan Parmar, Jack Long-Martinez and Joel Cannell, while Bickley defeated Tom Hunter, Lloyd Read and Ryan Brough.

In the final, Linzell took the first set 6-2, but Bickley came back to claim the second 1-6, only for Linzell to win the decider.

Finally, Sian Green in action in the Teen Tennis ETA event in Bolton but lost in the first round of qualifying.
