Seventies sensation The Real Thing will be the second headline act for this weekend’s Town Show.

The soul group, who stormed the charts with You To Me Are Everything, are due to take to the main stage in Central Park at 6.30pm on Sunday.

R&B star Beverley Knight will headline the main stage from 7pm on Saturday.

The two-day festival will start with a fancy dress and majorette carnival parade winding its way from Old Dagenham Park to Central Park from noon on Saturday.

The Post will also be launching its Cute Kids competition that will give the winning tot a modelling portfolio worth £350 and a £500 Asda gift card for their family.

Post staff will be on hand with photographers from Limelight Studio to take pictures of your children at the event.

The popular children’s beauty contest – formerly known as Bonny Babies – is again set to pull the crowds to the Post marquee near Arena 2.

“It’s fantastic – people queue all day long,” said a Post spokesman.

“The Cute Kids competition is such a pull, such an attraction, everybody expects it to be there. All the local people are clamouring for it.”

But families unable to go to the outdoor spectacular will still be able to enter the competition at Asda in Merrielands Crescent, Dagenham, from 10am to 4.30pm between July 18 and July 23.
