A project that has run sessions over the past three months to reconnect communities is holding a fun day as it comes to an end.

From first aid to managing stress and dealing with disagreements amicably, The U programme’s interactive sessions have covered various issues and have been run by local people for other local people.

Over the course of 12 weeks they have run 37 meetings with more than 400 people taking part.

On Saturday July 20 the organisers are holding a fun day at the Broadway Barking and on the green opposite from 1pm to 4pm.

As well as games, music and a picnic, there will be an ‘activity fairground’ involving guerilla gardening, DIY happiness, nutritional training, dance lessons and lemon jousting.

Project co-ordinator David Heinemann said: “The celebration event is designed to be a decent knees-up and match-make between local folks and interesting organisations, obviously alongside fun, games, food and fabulous company.”
