Ex-McDonald’s worker Diamond, who got through the battles stage of the singing contest two weeks ago, made her comeback for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation’s awareness raising campaign “Big Yellow Friday”.

Singing her audition song for the hit show, If I Aint Got You, on stage at Barking and Dagenham College’s Rush Green campus where she studied sports, the rising star joined X Factor act Alien Uncovered to help raise more than £1,000.

Speaking at the concert, Diamond, 19, said: “I felt it was important to come back to the college to help with this event. Doing charity work is something I would like to be able to do as I get more successful. And I love children!”

Stunned by her growing success, the Coventry University student added: “It hasn’t sunk in yet, I’m still a bit overwhelmed, I just can’t believe that I’m a step closer to my dream.”

Staff member Maxine Ison whose baby grandson Freddie suffers from a rare liver disease, organised the event with Friday evening’s concert following a day of face-painting, beauty treatments and college choir performances.

Freddie’s mum Hannah, who looks after her six-month-old full time, said: “Maxine’s worked really hard to get the support of different acts.”
