Charity Women of Substance hosted a free event at Heath Park, Dagenham, and Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association threw a street party at Rogers Gardens, Dagenham.

The scooter-loving Vespaholics Vespa Club members, who buzz around London and Essex on the famous Italian models. also met last week for a St George’s Day ride through the Essex countryside, ending up in Dagenham.

Also in Barking and Dagenham, lucky media studies pupils from The Watten School, Chadwell Heath, took the school trip of a lifetime to the big apple — New York.

Lastly, Margaret Hodge joined volunteers for the Friends of Barking Hospital for their annual tea party at United Reform Church Hall, Upney Lane, on Friday last week.
