A supermarket donated 17,912 meals to charity over the last year.

Tesco in Highbridge Road, Barking, generated the meals from surplus stock to tackle hunger across the borough as part of the Community Food Connection, which was set up in February last year.

Store manager Marc Gingell encouraged borough charities to sign up for donations over the coming year by visiting the site fareshare.org.uk
