THREE teenagers were arrested after a suspected arson ravaged 2million of equipment at a Chadwell Heath quarry, police revealed this afternoon (Monday).
A warehouse, three lorries, trailers and a mechanical digger were damaged in the four-hour blaze at Brett Lafarge, Whalebone Lane North, on Saturday.
Detectives arrested three 14-year-old boys after a diesel container was apparently set fire to in the bagging area of the quarry at 6.15pm. No one was injured by the fire.
The three boys have been bailed until the first week of May but police are keen to interview two other teenage boys.
Police are also seeking mobile phone footage of the blaze thought to have been widely circulated by text in Barking and Dagenham.
Brett general manager Matt Johanson, 32, told the Recorder a power cut caused by the blaze had made it impossible for 10 or so quarry staff to resume work this morning.
Anyone with information is urged to call Det Con Nathan Lee on 020 8217 5532 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
