A GOOD old-fashioned Cockney knees-up is to be held in aid of the National Holiday Fund.

The event at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club on Friday, February 22, is now in its eighth year, and will be attended by his Royal Pearly Highness, Arthur Rackley.

The night will feature a pie and mash dinner, a seafood stall selling cockles, whelks, and jellied eels, a licensed bar, and music from professional singer, Cockney Sovereign.

This year's party is being held to raise money for the Mayor's Charity, which takes chronically or terminally ill children on adventure holidays to Florida, USA.

Each holiday costs £30,000, and with £16,000 in his kitty already, the Mayor, Cll Fred Barns hopes to have raised the rest by the end of his term of office in May.

A further event will take place later in the year at Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium.

The Mayor's Charity Race Night is being held on Friday, May 2.

Tickets price £25, will include entrance to the stadium, a race card and three course meal.

For further details or to buy tickets for either event call (020) 8227 2121.
