THIS is my final column for the Newham Recorder, ending an association stretching back almost 41 years.
The paper started life in a small shop in Green Street with instructions to make a go of it inside a year - or else!
Fortunately the target was reached within six months and shortly after that we moved to the office accommodation above what was then C&A in High Street North.
Now, as the present staff prepare to move to the company's head office in Ilford, it seems an appropriate moment to wish them well and for me to withdraw.
