BUDDING designers of futuristic cars were presented with fabulous prizes for their efforts in a design competition.

Schools were asked to participate in the "Design a car of the future" competition, which was drawn up by car dealers Dagenham Motors.

Simi Oluwo, nine, from Thomas Arnold Primary School, Dagenham, won the first prize for her apple-shaped eco-friendly car for years 4, 5 and 6.

She received a gift voucher, a certificate and a brand new digital camera for her school for her design at the company's showrooms in Barking.

Runners up Samuel Coates, Marks Gate Junior School, and Ashleigh Browne, Thomas Arnold Junior School, also received gift vouchers and certificates.

The overall school winner, Thomas Arnold Primary School, scooped an all expenses paid trip to the Ford Technical Centre at Dunton.

Rob Dier, from Dagenham Motors said: "We would like to congratulate all those who took part, it was certainly a tough choice finding the winner.

The apple-shaped "car of the future" and other entries will be on display in the Dagenham Motors showrooms in Ripple Road, Barking.
