A road in Barking will be closed overnight due to crane work to enable a replacement sub-station.

Thornhill Gardens will be closed to vehicles to facilitate the work.

Barking and Dagenham Council has made a temporary order, expected to come into effect on Monday, September 15.

The work will be carried out in two phases.

Phase 1 took place between 9pm on September 15 and 5am on September 16, and the work is set to be carried out between the same times again on September 30 into October 1.

The order will remain in force for 18 months and may be reintroduced if further work is required.

During the specified times, all vehicular traffic, except for marshalled access, is prohibited on Thornhill Gardens.

This restriction applies to both sides of the road, from a point 81.5 metres east of its junction with Larks Grove, extending for 38 metres in an easterly direction.

Resident permit holders only Zone E bays in Thornhill Gardens will be suspended during the works.

This affects the north side, opposite numbers 72 to 84 Thornhill Gardens, and the north-east side, outside numbers 49 to 95 Thornhill Gardens.

The order was given by Tina Brooks, head of parking services.
