BARKING smashed six goals past lowly Clapton on Tuesday evening with coach Neil Day labelling the performance their most complete of the season, writes Iain Liddle.

Buoyed by two wins in their previous two games, the Blues fielded an attacking line up at Mayesbrook Park with forwards Mark Steadman and Ruel Sandiford deployed in wide positions and instructed to attack their visitors at every opportunity.

The home side produced mirror image performances either side of half time, with three goals in each period as the strike duo of Joe Turner and Des Gallen scored all the goals between them.

"It was a pretty complete performance, you can see that by the spacing of the goals," said Day. "Sometimes it's easy to score early and let up, but we played with a good tempo and finished our chances.

"We were two goals up in 17 minutes and that stage it is tempting to take your foot off.

"But we scored again and told the players that a clean sheet was now the most important thing.

"At half time we said it would nice to score seven or eight, but we just want a repeat of the first half performance. We got it and that was very pleasing.

"So far this season our game has been built on defence so it was nice to get a clean sheet, but also score a few at the other end.
