Bookworms at The Warren School raised £847.45 for charity during a sponsored Readathon.
Enthusiastic readers from years seven and eight were sponsored to finish as many books as they could in a month.
Additional sums were raised during a non-uniform day.
Event organiser Mr Todd said: “We are very grateful for all the family and friends who helped them raise such an impressive total.”
The money raised will be split between four charities which provide support for terminally or seriously ill children - CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity, Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, ReadWell and Together for Short Lives.
