STRATFORD WESLEYANS suffered a six-wicket defeat to North Weald at the weekend.

On a difficult pitch to bat on, Wesleyans lost Kevin Ashlin early on, before Tony Bowers and Daniel Cockley steadied the ship.

The middle order all chipped in too, as Joe Bronka (24), Joe Keep (13) and Richard Cockley (10) all dug in to push Wesleyans to 123 all out.

In reply, Weald were immediately in trouble losing openers with only eight runs on the board as Tony Keep and Hugh McGuire both struck.

It could have been 8-3, but Mir was adjudged not out from a caught behind shout, and that was to prove costly.

He went on to make 44, while Curran was the matchwinner, with an unbeaten 58, as Weald eased home.
