Woman who ‘jumped’ in front of train at Chadwell Heath station has life-changing injuries

A woman who reportedly jumped in front of a train at Chadwell Heath station has “life-changing” injuries.
Police and paramedics were called to Station Road at 6.15pm yesterday to reports of a woman stuck by a train.
The 27-year-old of Ilford was initially said to have suffered a minor head injury.
But a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said today that she has suffered both head and pelvic injuries, describing them as life changing.
She is currently in hospital in a stable condition.
The woman was hit by a 5.54pm Shenfield to Liverpool Street train.
The train was stopping at Chadwell Heath station.

An eyewitness said that she witnessed the woman “jump” towards the train.
The witness, who had just stepped off a train from Liverpool Street, said: “I couldn’t believe it myself and others on the platform stood in shock.
“Luckily for her the train was stopping at the station and so had begun to slow. She was lying under the second carriage.”
She added: “I ran the stairs to the ticket window and told the man there what had happened, and shortly two women followed me to report it.
“The man contacted emergencies and rushed to the platform.
“Lots of people were shaken by what they witnessed. One women even said she wouldn’t even be able to drive home she was so upset.”
BTP are currently treating the incident as non-suspicious.
