Stacey Solomon has hit out at the “posh cars” and “posh places” featured on TV sensation TOWIE claiming her upbringing was totally different.

Further fuelling the ‘London or Essex’ debate, the singer and TV presenter said of The Only Way Is Essex programme that she “wasn’t from that end of Essex,” adding her upbringing in Dagenham consisted of “truck drivers and barmaids”.

Stacey, who came third in ITV’s X Factor in 2009, said: “I’ve never really been able to get into TOWIE.

“I appreciate it and a lot of my friends and family watch it but it’s so different from the lifestyle of Essex that I know.

“Everyone has got a really posh car and goes out in posh places and wears make-up and everything like that.

“My upbringing was Dagenham-born and there’s not much else where I grew up.

“I’m not from that end of Essex and it’s so different. Dagenham is truck drivers and barmaids.”
