Liri Begaj, 20, lives in Ibscott Close, Dagenham, tells us what she wants in the borough

There should be more local events held where the community can assemble and socialise. People from the neighbourhood could gather maybe once every few months to get to know each other better.

Stronger laws should be imposed on criminal offenders – otherwise they will just keep re-offending.

I do not feel safe walking in local areas of Barking and Dagenham. Whether that involves me walking down to the shops or even returning back from work late at night. I still feel uncomfortable to be by myself.

One reason why is the lack of cameras. More cameras should be installed in hotspots where crime takes place.

Finally, I strongly feel that young people need to be given more guidance and be directed in the right places to find a job. More help needs to be organised to teach young people the best ways to find a job.

I do not think enough is done to get young people into work or back into education as too many of them take the easy route of being dependent on their parents or benefits.
