YOUNG bookworms were rewarded for their improvements in reading at this year's Brockelbank Awards.

The annual award is given to children with reading difficulties who have attended their library's 'Reading Zone' and made outstanding progress.

This year's award winners are: Ayomide Ojo, eight, from Barking Learning Centre, Esha Mukhtar, six, Markyate Library, Amoy Daley, seven, from Wantz Library.

Another 34 children received prizes for their progress in the 'Reading Zone'.

The award was set up in 1976 after the council's libraries department received a donation from the family of the late Mrs I.M. Brockelbank, former councillor and teacher.
