Staff have begun work on the Barking and Dagenham ‘Future’ Youth Zone, thanks to the support of Barking and Dagenham Council, The Queen’s Trust and Jack Petchey Foundation.
The youth zone will be OnSide’s first in London.
OnSide is a charity dedicated to supporting the wellbeing, aspirations and life chances of young people, through creating a network of high quality youth facilities where young people have a safe space to spend their leisure time.
The zone will be a purpose built facility for the borough’s young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 for those with disabilities.
The centre’s core team will move into the Youth Zone when it is ready early next year.
Speaking about his new team, CEO Gavin Evans said: “This is a very exciting stage in our development and I can’t wait to start the second round of recruitment as our Future Youth Zone family grows.”
The Youth Zone is currently recruiting for other roles, including a senior club coordinator and junior and holiday club coordinator.
