Young people hit the dance floor in Barking as they learnt how to fuse cheerleading and zumba.

They took part in a five-day course led by zumba teacher Carla Golshani and cheerleading expert Rebecca Primus.

The course, at the Ripple Centre and Abbey Sports Centre ran between August 20 and 24 and was organised by Fashion Enter, a shop and fashion academy in Vicarage Field Shopping Centre.

Fashion Enter manager Syreeta Mcqueen said: “Everyone who’s taken part has had a lot of fun and got the chance to show what they’d learnt to parents and friends on the last day. Some of them want to carry on doing this particular dance fusion.”

Fashion Enter also led a celebrity photography course, which gave young people the chance to create a portfolio and compose their own photo shoot.

The students were given tips from stylist Denise Brown, who has worked with Rihanna, and Vogue makeup artist Nicola Hamilton.

Syreeta added: “It’s given the students an inside look at the fashion industry and the opportunity for their work to be displayed in Vicarage Fields Shopping Centre.”
