Residents in Longbridge Ward have until 10pm today to cast their vote for a new face to represent them on the council.
Voters in the Barking by-election can vote at any of the three polling stations comprising Manor Junior School in Sandringham Road, Lovelace Gardens Community Hall in Lovelace Gardens and Faircross Community Association Hall in Hulse Avenue.
Candidates from the Conservative, BNP, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Ukip parties are all represented in the by-election.
The Longbridge Ward seat on the majority Labour Barking and Dagenham Council was opened for election following the sudden death at 65 of respected former Mayor Cllr Nirmal Singh Gill earlier this year.
The ward in Barking is home to 8,185 eligible voters. Only one candidate will be chosen, and the votes will be counted tonight at the Dagenham Civic Centre.
