Barking 0 London Bari 0

Barking endured a frustrating day in front of goal as their east London derby with Bari ended in a stalemate at Mayesbrook Park.

Blues had battled to a penalty shoot-out success at Hullbridge in the Essex Senior Cup in midweek, while Bari came into the meeting on the back of a 7-0 FA Vase thrashing at the hands of Ipswich Wanderers.

But the visitors had most reason to cheer after keeping a clean sheet to claim only their second league point of the campaign, while Mick O’Shea saw his side fall six points behind leaders Bowers.

Barking host Waltham Forest in the Essex Senior League Cup on Tuesday, while Bari visit borough rivals Newham on Wednesday.

Barking: Willis, Ling, Foster, Turner, Golby, O’Brien, Creed, Staunton (Dove 46), Mtyanda, Barlow (Nelson 73), Ashwell (Odedoyin 63). Unused subs: Reynolds, Sherwood.

Waltham Forest 1 Tower Hamlets 4

Tower Hamlets bounced back from their FA Vase exit to claim the points at Wadham Lodge.

The visitors dominated early on and took the lead when Ade Lazoio poked home from close range on 33 minutes.

Forest’s Balogun saw a point-blank header saved before the break, but Hamlets doubled their advantage midway through the second half when Randell Williams ran from halfway after a superb turn to smash home.

Omar Rowe ran onto a long ball to slot home the third on 72 minutes and it was 4-0 when Raymar Cedras tapped home five minutes later.

Forest grabbed a late consolation, but there was no denying Ade Abayomi’s youngsters, who host Ilford on Monday.

Tons led 2-0 at half-time, but Emmanuel Steven hit back for the visitors on 64 minutes and Sodiq Ayinde set up a tense finish with their second goal four minutes from time.

But the hosts held on to inflict a sixth successive defeat on Greenhouse, who are still without a point this season.

Sporting Bengal 0 FC Romania 0

Sporting Bengal maintained their unbeaten league record with a hard-fought point at Mile End Stadium.

Having battled to a 4-2 win at Burnham Ramblers in their FA Vase replay in midweek, Sporting had to settle for a share of the spoils on their return to league action.

Manager Anwar Uddin was pleased enough, though, and tweeted: “Delighted with a mature and disciplined performance from the squad, it’s been a tough week #stillunbeaten.”

Sporting Bengal visit Eton Manor next Saturday.

Allan Fenn’s Foxes fell to their first league defeat of the season at Southchurch Park.

Rhys Fatt put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot then turned provider to set up Stuart Paton for a tap in to seal the points.

Ilford will hope to bounce back when they visit Tower Hamlets on Monday night.
