Goresbrook returned to form with a convincing win at Hamro Foundation Essex League Division Three rivals Leigh-on-Sea.

Home captain James Spencer chose to bat at Chalkwell Park, but opposite number Kane Messneger's fiery new-ball spell yielded two early wickets before Daryl Forward (3-35) made further inroads.

James Pettitt (25) dug in before being undone by Muhammad Attaullah and Stuart Elliott battled to 34, before left-arm spinners Livash Ramduth (2-19) and Shane Barwick (1-25) turned the screw in tandem for 18 overs.

Leigh were dismissed for 140 in 41.2 overs, but the Dagenham outfit suffered early setbacks after tea as paceman Spencer sent Shaun Ross back to the hutch without troubling the scorer, swiftly followed by Lee Jones trapped lbw for a single.

But Leigh’s brief hopes of victory were soon extinguished by a superb unbroken third-wicket stand of 141 between Jordan Calverley and Barwick.

Calverley found the rope on seven occasions in a compelling unbeaten 51 while Barwick finished unbeaten on 62, accumulating nine fours and a huge six to secure a comfortable eight-wicket win which lifted Brook up to second.

The thirds completed a hat-trick of wins with a seven-wicket success at Brentwood fifths.

Frankie Paisley (21) and Neil Venables (14) were the only home batters in double figures as Brook produced economical bowling and crisp fielding to dismiss them for just 79.

Daniel Parnell (15 not out) and William Preston (12 not out) took Brook to their target in the 19th over and the club completed a clean sweep with Spa Tec Essex Sunday League success over Neo at the historic Leyton County Ground the following day.

Mohammad Hasan Mahmud holed out to Brook captain Ted Ivory five runs short of a century, as Showan Mitra made an unbeaten 44 in Neo's 215-7.

Ivory and Siraj Zafar took two wickets apiece before Brook's batters showed astute defence and attacking flair to smother their opponents with a superlative batting display after tea.
