Barking Football Club has announced a new managerial team following the departure of Lee Benson.

The Essex Senior League club parted ways with Benson on Tuesday, before revealing Jonny Fowell and Michael Walther as joint managers last night.

The changes come with Blues sitting down in 13th place with 18 points from 15 matches, having lost 6-0 at home to Halstead Town at the weekend.

Chairman Rob O'Brien said: "Lee is a really good man but unfortunately things haven't worked out the way we planned.

"I'm sure he'll be back in football soon and will draw on the lessons learnt here.

"There's no hard feelings towards Lee and everyone at the club wishes him all the best for the future, he's welcome back at the club anytime."

Fowell and Walther are well known in local non-league circles, having had roles at Ilford and Clapton among others.

O'Brien added: "I've known both Jonny and Michael personally for many years and I am delighted to welcome them to Barking FC.

"Both of them are experienced at this level of football and are known to assemble quality teams that play good football."

Barking are due to visit mid-table rivals Saffron Walden Town this weekend, with Fowell adding: "I'm really pleased to be given the opportunity to joint manage Barking alongside Michael and I am grateful to Rob for giving us the chance to get the club back up the league.

"We will be working hard to achieve our goals."

Walther said: "I'm very pleased to be joining Barking to hopefully build a squad the club and community can be proud of."
