New Dagenham & Redbridge signing Reggie Young says joining a promotion race was the reason behind his move to the club.
Young, who can operate as either a narrow full-back or wide wing-back, arrives from fellow National League South side Farnborough Town, where he spent four seasons as a key member of the side that secured promotion in the 2021/2022 Southern League Premier South play-off final.
“I’m really looking forward to it. Lee (Bradbury) got in touch with me, and we had a great conversation, so I’m delighted to be here,” said Young.
After signing his one-year deal with the Daggers, Young revealed the details of tthe conversation he had with Bradbury upon agreeing to make the move.
“I had a great four seasons at Farnborough. I’m very grateful for the time I had there.
"Lee got in touch with me, and one of the first things he said to me was, ‘Reggie, I want you to be a part of the promotion – the only aim for this season,’ so that sold it to me really straight away.
“I’m very direct. I love being on the ball. I love making things happen. Whether that’s scoring or assisting, that’s kind of my game.
“I like to create goals and try to set them up. I have my own personal targets, but like me and Lee spoke about, the main target is getting this club back to where it belongs, and that’s promotion.”
Daggers also announced a new addition to the backroom staff, with Jerry Gill joining as assistant manager.
Gill, 54, boasts years of experience in coaching and management, with the former Bath City boss widely recognised for his relentless attacking style and thorough player development approach.
Bradbury told the club website: “I’ve played with Jerry and known him a long time. He’s got very good experience at this level and worked well at Solihull Moors last year. He brings fantastic experience to my coaching staff.”
Gill adds valuable experience and tactical nous to Bradbury’s coaching team, along with a long career in the game playing as a full-back throughout the EFL.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Dagenham & Redbridge. Lee and I know each other very well; the hard work is up and running behind the scenes,” said Gill.
“Both of us, along with all the staff, are extremely motivated to work to bring the good times back to the club, giving the fans a team they can be proud of. See you all soon. Up The Daggers.”
Daggers also confirmed Jason Adigun, Kayden Harrack, Paul Kalambayi, Rafiq Khaleel, Chris N'Guessan, Trent Rendall, Dylan Stephenson, Josh Umerah, Oscar Rutherford and Ralph Vigrass as contracted players for 2025-26.
