Athletics: Dagenham 88s among National field

Dagenham 88 Runners were among the 9,000-strong National Cross-Country Championships field at Parliament Hill.
Rahana Islam led the women over five miles in 47 minutes 46 seconds, as Emma O’Shea (55.03), Rosina Salmon (55.19) and Jenny O’Hanlon (58.19) beat the hour mark.
Lorraine Moor (60.20), Denise Woolston (62.00), Sara Prior (62.18), Jenny Akroyd (63.43), Sonya Veerasamy, Beverley Eagles (both 64.22), Sharon Robinson and Jane Swanson-Sprent (both 66.26) also competed.
Gary Coombes led the men home in 52.34, with Peter Salmon (66.22), Michael Pegnall (77.41), Owen Daize (81.34) and Ian Cummins (92.30) also in action.
Paul Grange led the way at the last South Essex League meeting of the season, as he came home in 16th place.
Paul Prior was 76th, as Michael Pegnall, Ian Cummins, Emma O’Shea, Lorraine Moor, Caroline Cummins, Beverley Eagles and Denise Woolston all ran.
