Barking Road Runners Lee Johnson and Cristina Cooper travelled to Romania to compete in the Bucharest Half Marathon.

Johnson ran a superb 1hr 18mins 54secs to finish 19th, just 13 seconds off his best, while Cooper clocked 1:51.07 for the 13.1-mile distance.

Members also took part in a 10-mile race at Great Baddow, with Barry Culling first home in 1:19.30.

Clare Foreman (1:31.27) was first woman home for Barking, with Alison Fryatt clocking 1:33.30.

Dennis Spencer-Perkins (1:34.46) and Rob Courtier (1:35.06) were not far apart, while Ken Summerfield smashed his personal best by eight minutes to finish in 1:44.16.

Micky Ball completed the line-up in 1:55.15.

No fewer than 23 members took part in the first ELVIS race of the season at Romford’s Raphael Park.

Vicky Cooper won the V35 event in 34.37, finishing as fourth woman overall, and Johnson was sixth in 28.14.

Derv Bartlett (31.54) smashed his five-mile best, while Diarmuid MacDonnell clocked 32.40 and Martin Page 33.01.

n Busy Barking members were also out at the Crown-to-Crown 5k, where Bartlett clocked a time of 20.00 exactly.

Joe Monk (24.03), Courtier (29.49), Fryatt (29.54), Chapman (30.51) and Chris Anastasi (34.27) also ran.

n George Hiller took first place in the first handicap race of the year at Barking Park last Thursday, ahead of Kirsten Hiller and Dennis Spencer-Perkins, who took the first Barking Road Runner prize.

And Amanda Heslegrave was first woman home at the Barking parkrun in 22.27, before clocking 57.20 at the 5k Spartan Run, an obstacle event at Allianz Park.
