THE latest leg of the Club Championship Nine saw Dagenham 88 Runners impress at Canvey Island in the popular Nicola's five-mile road race.

Over 400 runners took to the flat coast route which always provides a fast race and Colin Pierson, making his debut for the club, was the first Dagenham 88 runner home, finishing in an excellent 34th position in a time of 31 minutes and 12 seconds.

Caroline Tuck led the ladies home in a time of 36.07 and 101st position, another pleasing effort following her recent London Marathon, while Pierson's wife Julia made her debut for the club, completing the course in a time of 38.16 for 140th place.
