FAYE FULLERTON improved her indoor PB for 1500m when placing fifth in a good quality race at the UK Athletics Indoor Championships and World Championships Trials at Sheffield on Sunday.

She tracked the leading bunch throughout but was unable to make an impression on the medals and finished in a time of 4:17.89s - an indoor PB by five seconds.

Newquay's Jemma Simpson, who last week beat Fullerton over 800m, took the title in 4:13.99s to clinch a World Indoor place ahead of Susan Scott (4:154.84) and defending champion Katrina Wootton (4:16.00), with Charlotte Best in fourth.

Grant Twist and Georgie Sales showed good form for the Essex Schools teams in Saturday's Southern Schools Inter Counties event at Paddock Wood, Kent.

Twist was fourth in the Senior Boys' competition with 20:32 while Sales placed a good ninth in the Senior Girls' equivalent with 20:59.

In the Junior Girls' event, Rachael Sadler was best placed in 24th (16:10) with Amanda Blaxland 42nd (186:58) and Rebecca Stanley 50th in 17:12.

Daniel Shanney was first of the club trio in the Inter Boys race in 26th (18:16) with twin Thomas in 37th (18:32) and Jamie Buckley-Stanton was 45th (18:44).

In the Inter Girls event, Sidnie Sales finished 29th with 19:03 and Jennifer Holland was 37th (19:15)

Sara Luck's victory in the fifth-round of the London Colleges Cross Country League at Reading consolidated her top place in the league stakes and with one race to go she looks good for the title.
