HAVERING MAYESBROOK athlete Nicola Hill, posted a superb early season time of 44.5 seconds in winning the under-20 300mH event at the club's first spring warm-up meeting on Sunday.

Clare Brennan won the senior event while Adam McCarthy came from behind to take the under-20 men's event in a personal best.

In the same race, Jack Edgar-Hill improved the club under-17 best at this event with 43.1.

Lucy Sargent notched up a senior 80m and 300m double and Joe Ramie recorded two good marks in the triple and long jumps.

Charlie Moss was the fastest under-20/senior in the 150m and Danielle Ross won the pole vault, but twinged a hamstring and had to withdraw.

The young athletes had a good opportunity to catch team managers' eyes.

Rising star Alex Law had a fine under-13 long jump and 80m double, while under-11 Modupe Shokunbi, still too young to compete in club teams, impressed with a fast sprint double.

Ashley Purnell was the fastest under-15 sprinter, as was Holly Thomas in the under-17 women, while Freddy Keefe led home the under-13 boys' 600m competitors.
