Barking Road Runners’ Lee Johnson was pipped to the post in the latest East London Five Interclub Series event at Harold Wood Park.

John clocked 17 minutes 12 seconds for the 5k multi-terrain race, but was edged out of first place by Mark Boulton of East London Runners.

Diarmuid Mac Donnell was next home for Barking in 19.58, as Antony Leckerman (22.04), Ron Vialls (22.21), Trevor Cooper (22.39) and Kevin Wotton (23.27) completed the scoring six.

Natalie Traylen (27.05), Charlotte Owen (28.09), Cristina Cooper (30.15) and Nikki Cranmer (31.41) led the way for the women, with Robin Booputh (27.21), Dennis Spencer-Perkins (29.32) and Kresh Veerasamy (35.13) also in action.

Dagenham 88 Runners were also out in force at the event and led home by Joel Denning (21.15).

Jamie Austin (21.59), Marios Pitsialis (22.00), Jamie Smith (23.08), Mick Brown (23.57) and Gary Cardenll (24.11) completed the scoring team, as Hannah Sheikh (24.39) led home Rahana Islam (26.14), Jenny O’Hanlon (26.34) and Yolanda Ceveira (28.34) for the women.

Dipping below the 25-minute mark were Tony Woodgate (24.29), Pritesh Patel (24.31) and Ian Cummins (24.34), while Nils Hollmann (25.14) was just outside.

Andrew Beazeley (26.35), Luke Summers (28.17), Leigh Moring (28.57) and Emma O’Shea (29.01) were next to finish, while Timi Veerasamy (29.02) won the F65 top prize.

Dagenham’s line-up was completed by Rosina Salmon (30.00), Lynne Northcutt (30.22), Lorraine Moor (32.04), Christine Lardner (34.19), Sharon Robinson (34.26), Jane Swanson-Sprent (34.26), Sarah Horne (34.40) and Sam Veerasamy (36.25).

The next race in the series is the Orion 5 at Epping Forest on Saturday (10am).

*Reece Brown (26.59) ran the St Luke’s Superheroes 5k in Billericay alongside dad Mick and clubmate Nils Hollmann, raising £218 for charity.

And Steve Whitfield clocked 2:10.58 for the India Queens half marathon in Cornwall, while Cassie Bryant finished the Trifarm Triathlon in 1:34.10, after an 800m swim, 12-mile bike ride and 5k run.

Marios Pitsialis (6:58.59), Kelly Drake-Tapscott (7:52.56), Jane Swanson-Sprent (7:52.56) and Danny White (8:27.06) completed the Ride London event, as Gary Cardnell (94 miles, 8:20.30), Louise Chappell (86, 8:07.58), Jackie Frewin (86, 7:27.57) and Julie Cardnell (46, 4:36.30) also took part.
