Barking Road Runners’ Alison Fryatt enjoyed a silver lining to the Victoria Park half marathon.
Fryatt finished in two hours eight minutes and 39 seconds for second place in the F50 category, while clubmate Antony Leckerman was 12th in the M50 group in 1:51.11.
The event saw athletes complete four laps of a predominantly flat 3.25-mile course through the east London park, on concrete paths and some stretches of grass, and Barking’s Paul Ward came home in a superb 1:37.30, with Robin Booputh clocking 2:14.58.
Four other members took on the Benfleet 15, with the annual cross-country race proving typically demanding in energy-sapping weather.
Diarmuid Mac Donnell led the Barking quartet home, with Andrew Gwilliam clocking 2:09.54 ahead of Cristina Cooper (2:30.46) and Robert Courtier (3:12.00).
James Lowndes was first to finish at the latest Barking parkrun, clocking 20.07, and MacDonnell was third in 20.46, while Amanda Hestlegrave was the first woman to finish in 23.02.
And four members were among a field of 218 at the first-ever Roding Valley parkrun, with Thomas Coughlan (26.25) leading the way from Alain Cooper (27.03), Kresh Veerasamy (28.21) and Andrew Gwilliam (28.22).
