THE final match of this season's Essex Cross Country League took place at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and numerous Dagenham 88 Runners impressed.
In the ladies' race over 6k, three members of the team competed for honours.
First Dagenham 88 runner home was Caroline Tuck in an excellent 31st place in a time of 30.13.
She was followed home by Mandy Heselgrave in 41st in 33.05 and Jo Riley was 46th in 46.00.
The ladies came 11th on the day but had they had another runner to make up a full team, they would have come seventh.
Meanwhile, in the mens' race, eight Dagenham 88 compe-titors started the 8.1k course but with conditions underfoot deteriorating Alex Mullet was an early casualty, being unable to get a good grip in his trainers.
However, all the other members finished and first home was Roy Bentley, in a time of 31.59 and 61st position.
The other finishers were Steve Townsend (33.21, 74th), William Adams (38.06, 97th), Daniel Miller (39.07, 103rd,) Doug Adams (44.10, 112th), Mike Linstead (48.59, 118th) and making his long-awaited debut for the club after a long-term knee injury was Rolf Jones, who completed the course in 50.37 for 119th place.
