Six current and former Barking Abbey players have been named in the initial Great Britain Under-20 Men’s squad.

Current student-athletes Amin Adamu, Obi Agu, and RJ Eytle-Rock, along with alumni Calvin Nevill-Kintu, Josh Steel and Akwasi Yeboah have all been named in the initial 21-man squad that will open up training camp in Colchester later this month.

Adamu and Agu have landed their first national team call-ups, while Steel returns to the squad after suiting up at the European Championships, and Nevill-Kintu, Yeboah and Eytle-Rock aim to make their first GB squad having represented England junior teams.

Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: “We’re definitely excited about the group of players that we have selected and we look forward to going to camp at the end of June.

“It’s a short preparation, leading to the European championship, so we need to maximise the time with our team and certainly having players returning from last summer will help this process.

“We have a lot of hard work ahead of us and we certainly feel that we have the ingredients to have a successful summer campaign.”

Barking Abbey coach Lloyd Gardner has also been named the assistant coach.
