Latest news from the Essex Senior League

Barking moved up to third in the table and extended their unbeaten league run to 11 games, including five straight wins, with a 5-0 triumph over Stansted at Hargrave Park.

And Clapton were also celebrating after ending a nine-match winless streak, including a run of six successive losses, with a 4-1 triumph over Waltham Forest at the Old Spotted Dog.

But Sporting Bengal were denied victory at Enfield, who grabbed a last-minute equaliser, as London Bari and Ilford fell to 3-0 defeats at Burnham and Takeley respectively.

Barking player-manager Glen Golby was forced to don the gloves with regular keeper Jason Willis unavailable, but saw James Peagram give his side the lead just past the half-hour mark.

Peagram doubled Barking’s advantage just before the hour, with Joe Pearman making it 3-0 midway through the second half.

And after Peagram completed his hat-trick on 77 minutes, Pearman rounded things off with Barking’s fifth four minutes later.

Tons regained the lead on 64 minutes through Paul Barry and sealed the points with two more goals in the space of three minutes late on.

Substitute Miles Hunter made it 3-1 on 86 minutes, with Freddie Morris adding the fourth in the last minute of normal time.

Clapton’s James Briggs tweeted: Great 4-1 win! Amazing team performance from the 1st to last minute! Enjoyed every bit of that game! @ClaptonUltras amazing as always!”

*Toib Adeyemi gave Sporting Bengal the lead just before the break at Enfield, but Ashley Blackburn levelled within a minute of the restart.

Abdisamad Mohamed put Anwar Uddin’s men back in front midway through the second half and it looked like being enough to secure all three points, but Lewis Francis denied the visitors victory in the 89th minute.

Allan Fenn’s Ilford suffered another disappointing defeat against Takeley at Station Road, a week on from their 4-2 home loss to Burnham.

James Mays put the home side ahead and Reed doubled the advantage with a fine free-kick.

The Foxes spurned chances to get back into the game and Alex Martin made them pay with Takeley’s third.

London Bari went down by the same margin against Burnham and dropped to 13th place in the table.

They are due to visit Enfield on Tuesday, while Tower Hamlets return to action with a home match against Greenhouse at Mile End Stadium on Monday night.
