Toshi Kazoku Judokwai finished among the medals at one of the toughest judo competitions of the year at the Kent International.

The Barking Abbey-based club sent a squad of nine members to the event and came home with two silver medals and two fifth-place placings.

Silver medalists Ruby Delaney and Lauren Jones were the club’s stars on the weekend, with Justus Smitruis and Veaceslav Rusu falling just short of medals in fifth place.

Amy Bundy, Smilte Smitruis, Adara Kabara, Rene Fulgence and Yaroslavl Mykytyn all put in a great effort at the competition, but failed to achieve any medal success on the day this time.

Coach Turan Kiani said: “This competition is extremely tough so to get any kind of result is a huge success, so I’m proud of all the team.”
