Barking Abbey secured a 60-54 victory at home to NCAA Division III school Springfield College in an exhibition on Tuesday afternoon.

Abbey overturned a 36-30 halftime deficit to hand the visitors the only defeat of their 10 day UK tour.

Savannah Wilkinson led Barking with 19 points and 17 rebounds as Tereza Brantlova added 19 points.

“It was a very pleasing game against a good level team with great tradition,” said head coach Mark Clark.

An agonisingly slow start for Barking saw them get into a 4-16 hole, before picking up their defensive effort to pull within six at half time.

The third quarter remained close, before Da Silva sparked Abbey with back to back baskets and a steal.

Baskets from Wilkinson, Katy Armanu and Brantlova broke open the game, as BA used a solid effort from Charlotte Elmore in her return, and a mature performance from Megan Sheret to seal the victory.
