Friendly: Billericay Town 0 Dagenham & Redbridge 2 (Adeloye 29, Phipps 85)

Dagenham & Redbridge collected a morale-boosting 2-0 friendly success away to Vanarama National League South title hopefuls Billericay Town.

The friendly was arranged in order to give some of Peter Taylor’s squad much-needed game time.

That included skipper Ben Nunn, who continued his return to action from a knee injury picked up over the summer.

Recent additions Jack Munns and Liam Bellamy were also handed starts in the friendly match in a bid to improve their match fitness.

The Victoria Road outfit took the lead in the 29th minute at the AGP Arena when striker Tomi Adeloye finished off a fine team move to net.

Daggers doubled their lead in the 85th minute through Harry Phipps, with the midfielder powerfully heading home.

Whether any of those who featured against Billericay have played themselves into Taylor’s thoughts for Saturday’s trip to Gateshead in the Vanarama National League remain to be seen.

But having lost three straight matches in the league, Daggers will be happy to be talking about a win once more — even if it was in a friendly.
