Captain’s Corner: Still gutted now with last minute defeat to London Scottish

But it is all about ending the season on positive note with game against Macclesfield on Saturday.

I am still gutted now and it is a hard one to take to lose to London Scottish with pretty much the last action of the game.

I thought the first half was pretty even, but I thought we had done enough in the second to get the win.

To lose it in the last few moments was gutting, especially with what was riding on a moment like that.

It was one bad pass, but Will (Nelson) has done a lot of brilliant work for us and we wouldn’t have been in the position we were without him.

It is still a bit raw at the moment but given a bit of time we can look back, and to go 28 games in a new league without defeat is amazing.

For myself I have a full time job and I am not about to up sticks and leave Barking, but for some of the younger lads like Dave Vincent, who at 21, is an amazing player who deserves to be playing higher.

There will be a lot of attention on our players because of the season we have had but we’ll just have to wait and see who is here next season.

Before the match winning try, James Ngan and I had just been in a ruck which had broken down and then we looked round to see their winger running the length to score the try, we were absolutely devastated.

I didn’t have to say anything to the boys before the match, they knew the job in hand and we were so close to pulling it off.

After the game we thought there was no point in playing this weekend’s game at Macclesfield.

But they want the fixture on, and they themselves have had a great season, so they have every right to want to play the fixture.

The dust has settled now and it wouldn’t be a bad way to end the season on a high and give the likes of Alex (Codling) and Kevin (Sorrell) a decent send off, and not on the note of Saturday’s defeat.
